The NSW Premier, who is also a graduate of our brother school, Redfield College, from the Class of 2000, has daughters at Tangara and was very generous to give his time to be present with us.
The ceremony commenced with the Premier greeting School Principal Mrs Sakr and our Student Leadership Team at the school's entrance, followed by our current Year 12 students and our Primary Leadership Team. The whole school gathered in the Yarra Hall for the special occasion, which included an address from Mrs Sakr, the School Anthem performed by the choir and a speech by the Honourable Dominic Perrottet on the importance of leadership, and how to improve one's leadership skills by learning from others.
To end the ceremony, our 2022 Captain and Vice Captain (Jemima H and Ruby T), handed their badges over to our 2023 School Captain Gabrielle P, and our Vice Captain Natalie G. Students then performed the Leadership Pledge, a beautiful custom where the current leaders stand behind the corresponding future leader with a hand on their shoulder to signify the passing on of responsibility. Finally, the Honourable Dominic Perrottet presented the rest of the 2023 School Leadership Team with their badges.
As we bade the Premier of NSW farewell, the School held a morning tea enjoyed by all. Thank you to the Honourable Mr Perrottet and his team for visiting Tangara, and to all who helped make the day a success!
